General Information for Submitting Abstracts

Abstracts will be accepted for oral or poster presentations. Also in some of the symposia, the committee will pick some oral presentations from the submitted abstracts. The committee of the 10th MOVD will vet for acceptance all submitted abstracts. The authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by e-mail by March 2009. The presenting author must register for the symposium during the period of pre-registration.

Format for Writing Abstract(s)

The abstract should be written in English.

Use standard abbreviations and place all special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the first use of the full word. Use generic names of drugs. Write numbers as numerals rather than words.

The title of the paper should be in CAPITALS. Single spacing is also required (20 words).

The text of the abstract should cover the purpose of introduction/background, methods, results and conclusions (250 words).

Young Investigators Award (YIA)

The symposium on 10th MOVD will vest Young Investigators Award (YIA) to those who would like to participate in this competition. The scientific committee will select the awardees for YIA from the submitted abstracts.

Criteria

  1. Applicants must be students, clinical research residents or pre/post doctoral trainees. Applicants must be under the age of 40 at the time of application. There is no restriction on nationality for applicants.
  2. An applicant must be a top author of an abstract and select 'Free paper (Oral)' when submitting the abstract online.
  3. The applicants must go through the application procedure for registration for the symposium and complete the payment.
  4. It is the applicant's responsibility to obtain the necessary visa for entering Japan prior to the congress.

The 5 finalists must present their paper at the YIA competition finalist session. The most excellent awardees will receive a grant of JPY 200,000-, and the other awardees (4 persons) will receive a grant of JPY 100,000-.

Travel Grants

The symposium on 10th MOVD also will reward Travel Grants. The committee will select recipients for Travel Grants from the submitted abstracts.

The 10 recipients will receive a grant of JPY 50,000-.
